The Hague Initiative for Law and Justice Calls for Signatures on an International Petition in Support of the International Criminal Court and Against U.S. Sanctions

In light of the U.S. sanctions imposed on the International Criminal Court (ICC) and its officials, which pose a threat to the independence of international justice and seek to influence its work, the Hague Initiative for Law and Justice has launched an open online petition calling for signatures in defense of the Court’s independence and in rejection of all forms of political pressure aimed at undermining its role in holding perpetrators of international crimes accountable.

We call on lawyers, judges, academics, researchers, law students, and all those committed to international justice to sign the petition in support of the following principles:

⚖️ Protecting the independence of the International Criminal Court and ensuring that it exercises its mandate free from political interference.

⚖️ Rejecting sanctions and pressure targeting the Court, its judges, and its Prosecutor.

⚖️ Calling for the lifting of sanctions imposed on Court officials and demanding respect for its decisions and judicial proceedings.

⚖️ Calling for concrete action to ensure accountability for international crimes committed in Palestine and the enforcement of arrest warrants issued by the Court.

⚖️ Ensuring unimpeded humanitarian access to the Gaza Strip.

✍️ We urge you to sign the petition and help share it widely. Let it serve as a collective legal voice rejecting impunity and affirming that international justice must not be subjected to political pressure.
