Fact Sheet: “The State of the Education System in the Gaza Strip in the Context of Genocide”

The Hague Initiative for Law and Justice has issued a legal fact sheet entitled “The State of the Education System in the Gaza Strip in the Context of Genocide”, marking the International Day to Protect Education from Attack.

The fact sheet documents the extensive damage to schools, universities, and other educational institutions in Gaza, as well as the impact of the destruction and disruption of education on students, teachers, and education workers. It also highlights learning loss and the broader humanitarian consequences of prolonged disruption to education.

The fact sheet examines these developments under international humanitarian law and the right to education, and calls for the protection of educational institutions, investigations into violations and accountability for those responsible, as well as the reconstruction and rehabilitation of educational facilities, measures to address learning loss, and psychological and social support for students and education workers.
