Attacks on Journalists in Gaza Violate International Law
According to the Geneva Conventions and their Additional Protocols, journalists enjoy a special status as civilians and must be protected from targeting or attacks. The recent targeting of journalists Anas Al-Sharif and Mohammed Qreigeh in Gaza constitutes a serious violation of international humanitarian law and a blatant breach of the rights to freedom of expression and press freedom.
Such deliberate attacks against journalists amount to war crimes under international law. These journalists risk their lives to report the truth, and silencing them undermines justice and human rights. The international community must take immediate action to protect journalists and ensure accountability for those responsible. Their courage and sacrifice serve as a call for the world to uphold freedom, human dignity, and the principles of justice.
