Gaza Children Face Denial of Their Legal Right to Education

In Gaza, children are being deprived of their fundamental right to education due to restrictions, insecurity, and ongoing disruptions to schools and educational resources. According to Article 28 of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child, education is a legal right for every child, with primary education compulsory and free, and secondary and higher education accessible without discrimination.

The obstruction of education in Gaza not only violates international law but also jeopardizes the future of a generation. Denying children access to schools has long-term social, economic, and moral consequences. International bodies stress that authorities and actors responsible for obstructing education must be held accountable, as every child has the right to learn, develop, and contribute to society.
