Starvation Is a Crime Not an Accident

Starvation Is a Crime Not an Accident

What’s happening in Gaza is not a “humanitarian failure”… it’s a crime defined by law

The deliberate starvation of civilians is not an unfortunate byproduct of conflict — it is being used as a weapon of war. Families are denied access to food, water, and medicine. Hospitals are overwhelmed or destroyed. Patients with chronic illnesses, cancer, and kidney failure are facing life-threatening conditions due to lack of treatment.

International law is clear: blocking food, obstructing humanitarian aid, and allowing civilians to starve constitutes a war crime. These actions are explicitly prohibited under the Fourth Geneva Convention and the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court.

The international community must act urgently to ensure that aid reaches those in need, and that those responsible for these violations are held accountable. Civilians should never be used as bargaining chips or punished collectively for the actions of others.
